Michael Garber Financial Planning was established to help people prepare for a more secure future by providing objective financial advice.  The firm integrates an engineering mindset with a caring approach, empowering clients to discover and gain control of the essentials of their financial future.

Whether you need help with a specific financial decision and no further commitment, or are seeking a long-term comprehensive relationship, you can use the firm's services as little or as much as desired.  Your interests come first, because the firm does not receive commissions or fees from third parties for the sale of investments or insurance.  This fee-only model is unique in the financial services industry, yet no different than other professionals such as attorneys, accountants or physicians.


Background and Qualifications:


I am licensed by the State of California as a Registered Investment Adviser.  This requires completion of an examination covering economics, investing and the laws of securities and investment advice. 

I am a NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor.  This requires taking the fiduciary oath, submitting a financial plan for review, and continuing education.

I have completed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM education, comprehensive exam and ethics training. I am working towards obtaining the CFPTM Board's certification. 

I live in Silicon Valley, and understand the unique challenges confronting families in this area, particularly achieving balance between work and home life.

Prior to entering financial planning, I earned the Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University, graduate minors in Economics and Statistics from Iowa State University. Over the years, I have worked for several firms in high technology sales, marketing, management, consulting and executive roles.
